Life after Death
Metropolitan of Nafpaktos Hierotheos is an amazing writer filled with tremendous insight and knowledge. He is a true theologian in that you sense that he has actually experienced God and has true knowledge of Him. If you take on any of the Metropolitan's books, Life after Death included, be prepared to study and go slowly. The translation from Greek into English is clear and easy. The language usage is easy and accessible. However, the book is spiritually dense, and therefore, not a book that you will fly through. For me, rereading paragraphs to truly grasp the concepts was not unusual. Reading this book, most Orthodox Christians may be surprised learning how Orthodoxy views the soul, salvation and life after death. We've been greatly influenced (through books, movies, TV, etc.) by the western society in which we live, and therefore, we often cannot discern between Western Catholic and Protestant concepts, and Eastern Orthodox theology, and we assume that all the theologies are somewhat similar, but they really are not.
